Call for Abstracts & Scientific Scope
Presentation Format and Languages
All submissions and presentations must be in English.
Selected contributions will be invited for full oral presentations. Dedicated poster sessions will be organised to facilitate in-depth discussion.
Conference Proceedings
Accepted contributions will be published as full papers in a special issue of Topics in Catalysis (Springer Nature), continuing the tradition of previous CAPoC editions. All manuscripts must be submitted through the Springer Nature editorial platform. Detailed submission instructions will be provided upon acceptance of the extended abstract.
All manuscripts will undergo a rigorous peer review process managed through the Springer Nature editorial platform.
Preprint Collection
In keeping with the CAPoC tradition, authors are invited to make their submitted manuscript available as a preprint to congress participants. Participation is voluntary: authors who wish to contribute may upload their manuscript via the congress website by March 15, 2027. The preprint collection will be made available to registered participants at the congress and does not constitute a formal publication.
Scientific Scope
Contributions are welcome across the six thematic areas below. When submitting an abstract, authors are asked to select a primary scope and, where relevant, additional scopes.
Scope 1 : Emission Control for Gasoline Engines, including Hybrids
- Three-way catalyst (TWC) formulations: novel materials, reduced precious metal loading, and alternative compositions.
- Gasoline particulate filters (GPF): filtration performance, ash accumulation and regeneration strategies.
- Cold-start emission reduction: close-coupled configurations, electrically heated catalysts (EHC) and hydrocarbon traps.
- Hybrid operation: intermittent engine use, repeated cold starts, catalyst cool-down, and keep-warm or pre-heating strategies.
- Real-world compliance and durability: short trips, low ambient temperatures and extended durability requirements.
Scope 2 : Emission Control for Diesel Engines, including Hybrids
- Selective catalytic reduction (SCR): Cu- and Fe-zeolites, vanadia-based catalysts, ammonia dosing and system integration.
- Diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC) and diesel particulate filters (DPF): ageing, low-temperature performance and novel substrates.
- Lean NOx traps (LNT) and passive NOx adsorbers (PNA): low-temperature storage and release of nitrogen oxides (NOx).
- Heavy-duty trucks and buses: ultra-low NOx requirements, low-load operation, dual-SCR layouts and ammonia slip catalysts (ASC).
- Hybrid diesel powertrains: thermal management, active heating and integration with powertrain control.
Scope 3 : After-Treatment for Biofuels, Hydrogen, Ammonia and Synthetic Fuels
- Biofuels and blends: hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), bioethanol and biomethane; impact on catalyst performance, poisoning and durability.
- Synthetic fuels and e-fuels: after-treatment challenges associated with oxymethylene ethers (OME), methanol and Fischer–Tropsch fuels, including fuels produced from renewable hydrogen and captured CO2.
- Hydrogen combustion engines (H2-ICE): NOx abatement strategies adapted to hydrogen exhaust, H2 slip oxidation, lubricant-derived emissions and catalyst durability.
- Ammonia as a fuel: abatement of NOx, N2O and NH3 slip; dual-fuel ammonia/diesel systems.
- Life-cycle assessment of greenhouse gas emissions across the fuel and after-treatment system.
Scope 4 : Emission Control for Stationary and Non-Road Engines
- Generator sets and data-center power: integrated SCR, DPF, ASC and oxidation catalyst systems, and retrofit of legacy engines to meet current emission standards.
- Gas engines and engine-based combined heat and power (CHP): methane and formaldehyde oxidation, and NOx control.
- Operating challenges: transient and low-load operation, thermal management, ammonia slip, packaging, reliability and life-cycle cost.
- Monitoring, diagnostics, permitting and field experience from operators.
- Marine applications: SCR with sulfur-containing fuels and methane slip from liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines.
- Non-road mobile machinery (NRMM) and rail: after-treatment for demanding duty cycles and compact installations.
Scope 5 : Emission Control for Non-Engine Combustion and Industrial Processes
- Biomass combustion, from domestic stoves to boiler-based CHP plants: abatement of CO, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and particles; alkali poisoning and transient operation.
