Call for Papers & Scientific Scope

Scope of the Symposium

Contributions are welcome across the following thematic areas. Please note that authors must select one primary theme to classify their paper during the submission process:

1. Emission control from Diesel engines

This theme covers catalytic advancements for heavy-duty, light-duty, and maritime diesel applications. Examples of relevant topics include:

  • Mechanisms and optimization of NH3-SCR over zeolites (e.g., Cu-CHA).
  • Aging phenomena and degradation modes in Diesel oxidation catalysts.
  • Development of trap materials for low-temperature NOx adsorption.
  • Emission control strategies tailored for large-scale maritime diesel engines.
2. Emission control from gasoline engines

This section focuses on meeting stringent emission standards for gasoline-powered vehicles. Examples of relevant topics include:

  • Developments in Three-Way Catalysis (TWC), including the investigation of alternative materials like perovskites or reducing noble metal content.
  • Filtration performance and optimization of Gasoline Particulate Filters (GPF).
  • Innovative strategies and catalyst designs to minimize cold-start emissions.
3. Emission control on de-fossilized fuels-powered engines

As the mobility and maritime sectors transition toward sustainable catalysis and alternative energy vectors, this theme addresses the unique exhaust profiles of non-fossil fuels. Examples of relevant topics include:

  • Exhaust after-treatment systems for hydrogen combustion engines.
  • Catalytic conversion and emission control for synthetic fuels, such as oxymethylene ethers (OME).
  • Abatement strategies for natural gas and dual-fuel systems (e.g., ammonia/methane), with a strong emphasis on scalable solutions for the maritime shipping industry.
4. Technological innovations

This category highlights cutting-edge engineering and novel physicochemical approaches in exhaust after-treatment. Examples of relevant topics include:

  • Active thermal management, such as microwave-based catalyst heating.
  • Pre-turbine catalyst applications and advanced dosing/mixing technologies for exhaust fluids.
  • Structural dynamics of single-site catalysts and advanced operando spectroscopy techniques.
  • Integration of emission control technologies with thermochemical exhaust energy recovery systems.

 

Presentation Format and Languages

All submissions and presentations must be in English.

A select number of papers will be chosen by the scientific committee for full oral presentations.

Furthermore, dedicated poster sessions will be organized to facilitate in-depth discussions following the poster presentations.

 

Conference Proceedings

All accepted papers, regardless of whether they are presented in oral or poster format, are intended to be published as proceedings in the peer-reviewed journal Topics in Catalysis.

All manuscripts will undergo a rigorous peer-review process prior to the conference. Review reports will be made available to the authors before, or at the latest, during the event.

Please note that papers will be strictly limited in length.
